One nice, clean method is to mark the pocket locations with pins or locking stitch markers, pick up and work patch pockets in rows, and then bind off and sew the edges down.     Hi, I’m wondering how you determine where to put the elbow patches on the sleeves? I’m making this sweater for a baby that hasn’t arrived yet and I’m not sure of the placement. Thanks! :)

      I would put them about half way between the cuff and the underarm, on the outside of the arm.

    When you tell us to pick up the stitches for the pocket you say to go from RS to WS then back to WS? I couldn’t quite figure that out if it is not a typo can you do a more in-depth post on it?

    What a great tutorial. I think this sweater is so cute! I love it and smile eveytime I read your updates on it.
