A few weeks ago I taught a class on wee socks at Black Sheep Yarns, following the Little Socks pattern. They make a great 3 hour ‘boot camp’ to learn how to knit socks, double points, turning a heel, gusset, and toe all in one class! We had a great time and everyone walked away with a little ornament for their tree and a lot of new sock knowledge. What I didn’t expect was my re-found obsession with this pattern!
I immediately went home and dug through my fantastic stash of Tanis Fiber Arts Yellow Label DK (mostly left overs from this project) to whip up a whole rainbow set. I got it down to 20 minutes a sock and memorized the pattern by about sock #3. For those who want to know the colours are: Poppy, Royal Flush, Pink Grapefruit, Buttercup, Lemon Grass, Spearmint, Mallard, Seabreeze, and Peacock.
The results were just as I had hoped: fabulous. The rainbow has everything I need: greeny blues, lime green, a nice shade of Grapefruit I’m newly obsessed with….really just everything! Hunter had fun helping me arrange my little socks for this photo shoot. We played with different colour combinations and orders and we only stopped when she tried to steal them all for her stuffies…
Does your tree have any knitted ornaments? I love a hand-made tree and mine will have a rainbow to add this year!
