Hurrah for knitters! Since the Heart On My Sleeve ebook launch in February, we’ve sold over 3200 ebooks and donated all of the income (a whopping total of $53,745 USD) to the Against Malaria Foundation. The funds raised so far will buy over 22,000 long-lasting insecticidal bed nets which are set to be distributed in Malawi, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda (it’s easy to track the distribution of the funds we’ve raised on the Against Malaria website).
So what to do when you look at the world and feel sadness, and have that anxious fear in the pit of your stomach? I think the answer is to act, to do your best to create joy and beauty and try be helpful to others in a positive way.
We don’t often review books on our blog, but I always make an exception for Jane and Shannon. I have been fans of both of them since the beginning and over the years we have become friends. They have just released a new book, Within, and it is just so beautiful.
Every year Shannon (of Very Shannon) hosts several amazing KALs and today she is starting her spring Tops, Tanks, and Tees KAL! I am very excited to say that Tin Can Knits will not only be one of the KAL sponsors, but I’ll be knitting along too.
Shannon, the genius behind luvinthemommyhood, has started a yearly summer KAL and this year we are taking part! The Summer Sweater KAL is designed for knitters to make a sweater in time to wear it for sweater weather! Haven’t we all decided we needed a fall sweater, only to finish it in time for spring? Not this year.
It must be Spring because it’s time to start knitting lighter! Think lace or sock weight yarns, lacy stitches, and small needles.
