On the fourth day of Christmas, Tin Can Knits gave to me…
a hip slouchy hat,
honey flavoured mitts,
sea inspired socks,
and cabled mittens for under the tree!
perfect for the hipster in your life
Nobody can object to this hat! It’s adorable on little babes, fashionable teens and classic lumberjacks alike. It is the perfect go-to pattern for gift knitting. And since the pattern includes options for two common yarn weights: DK and worsted, there’s very likely a lonely ball in your stash just begging to become a hipster!

How funny hipsters are. Back in 2012, when we published this pattern, hipsters weren’t a new thing, but they weren’t the mainstream yet either. Now the ‘hipster’ label or style has become so mainstream as to be nearly meaningless. Of course the hipper than hipsters are always pushing the boundaries by pickling weirder and weirder things, wearing suspenders, and growing even bigger beards and moustaches with their organic vegan beard oil. My fav distillation of hipsterdom is this music video from Portlandia.
But now… back to our regularly scheduled knitting program!
