We’ve got a fun-to-knit little number for all you colour lovers out there, so step right up and see our latest pattern, the Carousel hat!

If you’re ready to venture beyond a two-colour palette and into multicolour knits, the Carousel hat or matching yoke sweater patterns are the perfect playful projects to begin with! The palette contains three deeper and darker colourways, and three lighter or brighter ones. But though the contrast between lights and darks must be sufficient to allow the pattern to read clearly, you can really mix it up when it comes to hue (what you might call ‘colour’…learn more about colour terminology here).

So if you’re ready to get playful, start experimenting today!
Simple, punchy, fun-to-knit geometries
For me, there’s something incredibly joyous about this kind of small-repeat colourwork. You’ll change colour every two or three rounds, and if you’re anything like me, that means you just won’t wanna stop knitting!
And if you’re more of a sweater knitter, we have a matching yoke sweater design called the Carousel sweater – check it out!
Just getting started knitting stranded colourwork? We’ve got a LOT of support tutorials. Start with our beginner’s tutorial, Getting Started With Stranded Colourwork, and then check out the rest of our Colourwork Knitting Tutorials, too.

I love this pattern and would like to make this hat from my stash; I have lots of Malabrigo Rios and Ginger Twist Sheepish Aran yarn. Is it possible to use what I have for this pattern?
Thank you!

Hi Mary Ann – This pattern is written for sport weight so you could adjust which size you are knitting to compensate for gauge, but it would depend which size you want your hat to come out.
